One of North London’s most popular live music venues, O2 Academy Islington hosts gigs and club nights from both established acts looking for an intimate performance space and new and emerging artists cutting their teeth in the live scene.
Since its grand opening with US rockers Alkaline Trio in September 2003, an impressive list of global superstars have graced the stage, including Eminem, Muse, Beck and Fall Out Boy. Revered by music lovers for its varied event programme covering all genres and tastes, the venue has welcomed the likes of chart-topping grime MC Stormzy, pop wonderkid Billie Eilish, Mercury Prize-winning rapper Dave, pop-punk pioneers New Found Glory and 2019 breakout star Lizzo in recent years.
O2 Academy Islington is also famed for its club nights, including long-term residencies Star Shaped, a monthly celebration of Britpop with guest DJ sets from some of the genre’s famous faces, and weekly pop party Club De Fromage – a favourite of both Londoners and visitors to the city – which is renowned for its cult theme nights and was hailed as one of London’s best nights out by guide to the capital Time Out.
