Loanhood are coming to Angel Central for their next London Swap Shop on 29th September

LOANHOOD are back in Islington for their next London Swap Shop at Angel Central in the Islington Climate Centre. Clothes swaps are an opportunity to circulate clothes and accessories with other members of your community.

A circular fashion and sustainable lifestyle service, LOANHOOD’s aim is to keep fashion circulating by providing accessible and fun events that inspire diverse communities to rethink the way we make, sell and buy fashion.

350,000 tonnes, that’s around £140 million worth of used but still wearable clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year and LOANHOOD want to prevent that from happening. There are lots of way to be part of the circular economy from renting, resale, repair and recycle.

HOW IT WORKS

Please bring no more than 5 items of clothing, accessories and/or footwear freshly cleaned * and ready to go on the racks. LOANHOOD accept all shapes and sizes including children’s clothing.

LOANHOOD offer a token system for customers who bring no more than 5 items. Items will be categorised into relevant tiers (1 token under £50, 2 tokens over £50) based on the type, brand, RRP and condition. This will dictate how many tokens you can use to shop for new items. 2 token items will have a yellow sticker assigned to them.

This is a community driven swap where LOANHOOD accept items from high street up to high end.

 

DROP 11:30- 15:30

LOANHOOD open the doors for drop only at 11:30am, this gives the team the chance to populate the shop before officially opening the doors for swapping at 12pm.

Bring up to 5 items to trade for tokens. Items will be assessed by the Swap Shop Assistants on arrival and displayed on the rails. Once the items are traded for tokens they go straight onto the shop floor, so make sure you are 100% sure before you pass them over.

LAST DROP IS AT 15:30

 

SWAP 12:00- 16:00

Browse the rails and use your token currency to exchange for new preloved items. You can only swap if you have dropped items during the drop period.

If you don’t use all your tokens you can save and bring to the next clothes swap.

Clean and of good quality women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories.

Free of faults or minor repairs

Something you once valued or will be valued by someone else. Ask yourself – would you give this to a friend?

Angel Central Shopping Centre is always buzzing with activity, and the Bank Holiday weekend is no exception.

Get growing with Islington’s beloved gardening competition Islington in Bloom 2023, one of the highlights of the weekend! Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, this is your chance to contribute to a cleaner, greener, and healthier borough. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the competition and it’s going to be grander than ever before. You don’t need any experience or even a garden to participate – everyone is welcome to join in on the green-thumb action!

We want Islington to be cleaner, greener, and healthier, and our gardening competition is a great way for us to reimagine our shared spaces together and make this happen. Gardening has many benefits for people and the environment:

·It raises our spirits by making our shared spaces more beautiful.
·It makes Islington more attractive to pollinators and other wildlife.
·It supports biodiversity and helps protect our environment.
·It brings people together and is great for health and wellbeing.
·It’s fun!

Puppy Yoga

The fun doesn’t stop there, from Friday through to Monday, you can experience the ultimate puppy experience! You will be joined by a litter of puppies who are all getting ready to venture off to their new homes. Each puppy yoga class will start off with puppy cuddles and individual photo opportunities! You will then carry on with some gentle yoga movements and breaks. The class will finish off with everyone on their backs lying down on their yoga mat with a puppy placed on their tummy for extra relaxation.

Puppy yoga is beneficial for the puppies as it allows them to socialise with new people in different environments, creating less separation anxiety when they officially go off to the new homes. From a wellness perspective, it is great for attendees too as it allows you to take a moment out of the day to unwind and relax from the everyday stresses of work and life.

Tickets are released every Thursday for the following weekend. Please check Puppy Yoga London’s website each week as they may release tickets at different times each week.
