Bring along your worn, loved or damaged clothes and join local menders, artists and changemakers for a creative afternoon of free, drop-in repair and upcycling. This interactive event is a celebration of circular fashion, encouraging us all to rethink our relationship with clothing, extend the life of what we wear, and reduce waste.

Elphin Productions, King’s Head Theatre, and Little Angel Theatre, in association with the Angels of Angel, delivered a festive treat with Cinderella! Starring Drag Race UK finalist Ella Vaday and the voice of Dame Judi Dench, this pantomime brought laughter, sparkle, and North London flair.

Written and directed by award-winner Andrew Pollard, Cinderella mixed fairy tale magic with local charm. Audiences booed the wicked step-sisters, cheered for Buttons and Quackers, and danced along at the Disco Ball finale.

With its witty script and vibrant performances, Cinderella was a true festive highlight for North London!

Angel Central in Islington shone brightly as it kicked off its annual Light Up Angel event on Friday, 22nd November. The neon-themed celebration brought together the local community for an enchanting evening, setting the stage for a memorable festive season.

Highlights of the Switch-On Event

The festivities began at 4pm in the Angel Central Piazza, where visitors were greeted with a captivating array of neon and light performances. Jugglers, dancers, and glowing street performers delighted the crowd, while families enjoyed free neon face painting and hair braiding. Live entertainment added to the excitement, featuring performers from the King’s Head Theatre’s production of Cinderella and the Little Angel Theatre.

The much-anticipated highlight of the evening came at 6:30pm when The Snowman, from Sadler’s Wells Theatre, took center stage to switch on the Christmas lights. The event was filled with festive cheer, delicious treats like churros and mulled wine, and classic Christmas tunes, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

What’s Still to Come

The Light Up Angel event is just the beginning. Angel Central has an exciting lineup of activities throughout the festive season:

• 30th November & 1st December: The Sustainable Market opens with unique gifts from ethical businesses. Visitors can also enjoy free neon airbrush tattoos on 30th November and face painting on 1st December from 11am to 2pm.
• 7th & 8th December: Little Angel Theatre will host free kids’ workshops, sensory sessions, and craft activities. The Sustainable Market returns, along with free neon hair braiding on 7th December and airbrush tattoos on 8th December, both from 11am to 2pm.
• 14th & 15th December: Enjoy live performances of Christmas classics and Disney favourites, along with street entertainers. Little Angel Theatre will offer more free kids’ workshops. The Sustainable Market will feature ethical gifts, and visitors can enjoy free neon hair braiding from 11am to 2pm.
• 16th – 24th December: The Sustainable Market will be open daily, perfect for finding unique, last-minute gifts. Free face painting and airbrush tattoos will be available on 21st December from 11am to 2pm.
