Located off the ever-hip Upper Street, Angel Central Shopping Centre (formerly known as The N1 Centre) has a vibrant and stylish collection of shops, cafes, restaurants, cinemas and music venues under its roof.
Whether you want to watch the latest movies and share a family-sized popcorn snack, or dine out for two on something more extravagant, Angel Central offers you that choice.
Now that the weather is starting to get colder and we’re well on our way on the road to Christmas, we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to stay inside with a hot drink and a toasty blanket.
However, this also means that you could be missing out on some of the funnest things Islington has to offer. We’ve decided to make a list of some of the best things to do during this wintery season in our local area to try and persuade you to leave the sofa for a while.
We’re starting this list off with a well-loved event that is returning to Angel Central on 20th November.
The Jager Haus is a German themed bar that will be located in the middle of Angel Central and offers a wide range of both German and English Christmas food and drink. This pop up bar is perfect for hungry shoppers and suitable for all ages, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available.
With so many tasty treats to try, you need to visit the Jager Haus. What a great way to get in the mood for Christmas!
If you’ve ever spent your days wishing you could have been a contestant on the hit TV show The Crystal Maze, now is your chance!
The Crystal Maze Live Experience offers anyone the chance to feel like they were on the show by completing difficult challenges with friends and trying to beat the clock. With 4 different zones to play through (Industrial, Futuristic, Medieval and Aztec) there’s plenty of fun to be had.
Think you’re up for the challenge?
The Angel Maze is closing on 27th January 2019, so don’t miss your chance to experience the magic.
We’ve spoken about the Angel Comedy Club in previous lists but it’s that good that it needs mentioning again!
The Angel Comedy Club has played host to some of the funniest acts from across the world over the years, often playing as a testing ground for new material. With daily events across both venues (The Bill Murray and Camden Head) there is always something to go and watch and you’ll often be left with a massive grin on your face.
Upcoming events at the club include the likes of Eddie Izzard, Rob Delaney and Frank Skinner. With high profile names like that, you’re guaranteed a laugh or two.
Now for something for the kids and it’s definitely going to use up all that energy.
Better Extreme Trampoline Park is a fantastic day out for kids, allowing them to bounce and jump to their heart’s content. With a unique bounce arena full of fun features and a giant foam pit to dive into, fun and total chaos is guaranteed.
It’s not just for kids though and it could be great fun for the whole family. Plus it might also be helpful in trying to make room for the multiple tins of Quality Streets and Heroes that will likely be consumed over Christmas.
Looking for a challenge and a test of team work? You need to check out clueQuest.
clueQuest has a variety of fun but challenging escape rooms for you to try and tackle, with each team being given just 60 minutes to find a way to escape through cryptic clues and hints. There are 5 different missions to choose from (PLAN52, Operation BlackSheep, Revenge of the Sheep, cQ ORIGENES and Escape The Lost Pyramid), each with different levels of difficultly and challenges.
If you’re looking for something to do as a group, this is perfect. The rooms are suitable for all ages but pick your team wisely otherwise you may end up stuck forever (not really).
Next up on the list is Islington’s resident puppet theatre, the Little Angel Theatre.
The Little Angel Theatre is a well-loved establishment in the local area and rightfully so. Their unique puppet shows are great fun and impressive to say the least, dedicated to creating and sharing inspiring stories.
They are hosting a number of events and shows over the Christmas period, including Finding Santa, Angelo, Wow! It’s Night Time and a Christmas Carol Concert. If you’ve got younger kids, this is a must see place to visit this winter.
Lastly, how could we make a list of things to do in Islington without a little bit of self-promotion?
Angel Central has something for just about everybody, with plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment to be enjoyed.
We’ll soon be hit by a wave of Christmas shoppers and what better place to do it than Angel Central? With a wide range of shops such as H&M, Oasis, Tiger, Rituals, and Argos we’re sure that you’ll be able to find something for even the hardest person to buy for.
Feeling hungry? Take a break from shopping and tuck into some tasty dishes at one of our resident restaurants such as Bella Italia, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Wagamama or Jones & Sons.
If entertainment is what you’re looking for then Angel Central has got just the thing. Our 10 screen Vue cinema is a fantastic day out for the whole family and with upcoming films such as the new Fantastic Beasts, Mary Poppins Returns and The Grinch, you won’t want to miss out.
