Bank Holiday Fun for Under £10

April is here and for a lot of us that means two things – lots of egg shaped chocolate and a lovely 4 day weekend near the end of the month.

If you’re like us, you’ll feel like you need to do something productive or really fun with your bank holiday to make the time off feel worth while, but you don’t really want to break the bank.

Lucky for you, we’ve compiled a short list of some great activities you can enjoy over the bank holiday that won’t burn a hole in your wallet.

Catch A Film

We’re starting off this list with our fantastic local Vue cinema based here at Angel Central.

Everyone loves going to the cinemas, as it’s something that can be done with friends, family, or even that special someone on a romantic date. But we know what you’re thinking – isn’t going to the cinema super expensive these days?

As a matter of fact, Vue are now one of the cheapest options for catching the latest releases, with tickets priced at a mere £6.99 per person! As far as cheap days out go, this is definitely a good place to start.

With great new movies such as Captain Marvel, Dumbo, Shazam and Missing Link, there are plenty of fantastic films to choose from. For more information on listings, visit the Vue website.

When was the last time you got to see a brand new release for under £7?

Laugh Until It Hurts

We’ve spoken about Angel Comedy in multiple lists before, but it’s hard not to when it’s such a staple of the local entertainment scene!

Both The Bill Murray and Camden Head are hosting Angel Comedy events over the bank holiday weekend, featuring award-winning comedy from a range of up and coming acts. Angel Comedy is considered their flagship night, and the best part about it is that it’s absolutely free!

Who doesn’t love great comedy for the low price of nothing?

The Bill Murray also has events such as Roast Battle London and a performance by the voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling over the weekend, and seats for these shows can be reserved for only £5.

Just a quick note though, Angel Comedy is first come first served so make sure you get down there nice and early to secure a seat.

Enjoy Great Food For Less

Not everyone likes to go out over the bank holiday weekend, and some prefer to use the time to catch up on that TV show you’re watching or binge all of the Marvel movies before Avengers: Endgame comes out later this month.

You could grab the perfect lunch time snack at GBK, with their Burgers with Benefits offer starting at £5.95. With hand crafted burgers, burger sauce made fresh everyday and a tasty selection of drinks, you could do worse than taking friends and family out for an indulgent bite to eat at GBK.

We’d be foolish not to mention our resident Italian restaurant when talking about tasty pasta and pizza, with Bella Italia providing a range of mouth watering food for the whole family. If you’re planning on leaving to house to catch up with friends and are looking for somewhere that has a fantastic menu at great prices, we recommend making a stop at Angel Central. They currently have loads of great offers for under £10, check them out here: https://www.bellaitalia.co.uk/italian-restaurant/london/islington

What’s your favourite pizza topping? Are you a big pepperoni fan or prefer the classic cheese and tomato? Or maybe even pineapple? Let us know!

Peaceful Stroll Down The Canal

Some of the best days out can actually be free, and making use of the local scenic routes is an example of this.

If you’re looking to get out and enjoy some peaceful walking this bank holiday, you can’t go wrong with this classic Islington walking spot. Now that sunnier times are upon us, taking a stroll down the canal could be the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon, and fantastic for anyone trying to rack up steps on their Fitbits.

Whether it’s walking the dog, going on a family walk or enjoying some peaceful alone time, this is the perfect location. It might be nice to get a bit of air after stuffing your face with chocolate eggs as well.

If you’re looking for more information on some of Islington’s best walking spots, be sure to check out our recent article on the topic.

Dance The Night Away

Club de Fromage is back at the O2 Academy Islington on Saturday 20th April for an Easter special that is set to be an amazing night.

Grab your dancing shoes and get ready to join Slow Alfie and crew for a night of great times and even better music. Club de Fromage is often referred to as “London’s greatest pop night out” and always guarantees a night of sing-alongs, air guitar and plenty of wacky antics.

If you’re looking for an excuse to get loose over the bank holiday weekend, don’t miss out on this event. Tickets are priced at a very reasonable £7.55, making it a cheaper night out than most places.

Anyone who turns up in fancy dress even gets to jump the queue, so get creative!
